MIST Suzuki Racing & GPR Steering Dampers Team Up For UK Market
Track Parts were appointed as the sole official distributor for GPR Steering Dampers in the UK and Ireland back in February. This team is working hard to build the GPR brand in the UK along with selling, servicing and supporting GPR Steering Dampers for the road, off road and ATV markets.
The team behind Track Parts has worked with GPR in the UK since 2004 when team principal Mike Edwards was busy running the MiniTwins race series he co-founded the previous season. Along the way MIST Suzuki Racing was formed and the team went on to use GPR Steering Dampers when competing in the FIM SuperStock Cup and UEM SuperStock 600 classes, run as part of the World SuperBike calendar, and also the British SuperBike Cup championship in 2009.
Starting initially as a reseller of GPR Dampers through our website and then as a customer when MIST Suzuki Racing competed internationally the relationship with GPR gradually grew. The team did a lot of development work with GPR in the US on the very first version 4 prototypes in early 2007 and have used all the different revisions, and encountered all of the various problems, since that time.
GPR USA sponsored the team in a small way initially and their input has steadily grown over the last couple of seasons to the point where they worked alongside us in the World SuperBike paddock and we tested their products before they were put in to production. For 2009 GPR decided to streamline their efforts and asked if we could combine our experience with their products and our business relationship through the team with distributing and supporting the products in the UK.
We intend to keep plenty of product in stock and will continue to offer the lifetime warranty that GPR is famous for. There are plans to set up a number of key Performance Centres around the country that will service any damper for a competitive fee, including replacing all seals and filling with fresh oil if required, in addition to providing race support at events ranging from British SuperBikes or Bemsee and MRO race meetings through to having someone onsite at the TT, Manx, NW200 and beyond.
